There's always something a little sad about the end of summer. Every year I find myself nostalgically mooning over all the bikinis I didn't buy, iced lattes I didn't drink and fresh ice cream I didn't eat.
But every year there's always a turning point. An inevitable moment when I finally give into the season; reluctantly packing away my broderie and espadrilles for another year.
Once I've taken those first tentative steps, new season shopping is often high on the agenda. I find autumn is a great time to play around with fashion. It's not cold enough for bulky coats and thermal socks, but there's just enough bite in the air to experiment with knitwear and layering.
In this week's new in round up, I've decided to pay homage to my favourite online retailer, ASOS. In the name of research, I've spent a glorious evening scrolling through their new in section and picking out some of my favourite seasonal pieces. Here's what I'm loving...
1. ASOS premium biker jacket
This season's catwalks have been peppered with decadent shades of russet, burgundy and copper tones, with everyone from Max Mara to Hermes showcasing this classically autumnal palette.
This biker jacket from ASOS adds a tough edge to the somewhat feminine trend. I'll be wearing mine with a round neck tee, high waisted black jeans and a textured cross body bag.
2. New Look at ASOS tie up dress
Sporty silhouettes aren't usually "my thing", but there's something about this dress that caught my eye. I love how it offers a feminine spin on the street wear trend seen on the runways of Balenciaga and Vetements.
3. A Star is Born at ASOS embellished bomber
It might be a few months too early, but this embellished bomber positively exudes Christmas cheer. I'll be wearing mine with leather cigarette pants and a simple grey tee.
4. Tommy Hilfiger x Gigi Hadid at ASOS buckle boots
Every autumn, I promise myself that I won't buy another pair of ankle boots, yet every year I find myself lusting after at least five new pairs. It's a love affair that will transcend the ages and undoubtedly follow me into my eighty fifth year.
I'll be wearing these with a pair of black leather trousers, this season's puffa jacket and a grey beanie.
5. Nars at ASOS Audacious lipstick in Bette
It wouldn't be autumn without an obligatory dark lip. I'm currently lusting after this Nars Audacious lipstick in Bette. Team with fresh, dewy skin and minimal eye make up.
