Travel And Trippin'

This weekend I'm trippin'. Yes, I'm off to Yorkshire on Friday and Ben's coming too!

I could not be more excited to escape the norm for a couple of days, and just spend some time with my favourite people.

There is just one teeny tiny problem...
I am the world's worst packer.

I just can't leave anything to chance. If it's not attached to the wall, chances are I've tried to pack it. Well, you  never know when an extra bread bin might come in handy...
.
This time however I'm setting myself a challenge. With a holiday in the sun on the cards, it's time to master the art of packing light. No Rachel, a family sized packet of brillo pads does not constitute as a travel essential...

In a bid to 'go capsule', I've decided to pick just my essentials for the trip and snatch only my staple saviours. One base; one lip and one eye combination.

So for eyes, I've gone pretty neutral.  I've chosen my favourite L'Oreal Volume Million mascara in shade extra black. Before picking this up on a whim, I was loving YSL's Baby Doll Lash, but I've truly been converted. The plastic applicator grips my lashes perfectly, providing lashings of volume and separation; my favourite lash look.

I've also packed my Clinique Kohl pencil in case I'm feeling a little fancy...

...and Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr eye shadow in shade in Pink Gold. These are so useful! They can be swept over the eye for a sheer sheen, or built up for a bolder burst of colour. I usually just pat a tiny amount onto my eye lid and blend out with a Real Techniques crease brush, if I'm feeling a little tired and flat. I find them completely crease free and really long lasting .

Okay I've cheated a little with the bases and gone for two.
I have the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in shade Light Beige and Vichy Idealia BB Cream in shade Light. Although I don't usually include foundation in my daily make up routine (I usually just pop some concealer where needed these days!) I've been testing out both of these bases a little more so that I can review them, so I thought I'd pop them into my make up bag.

I'm finding that the Vichy Idealia BB Cream has been making my skin a little greasy but, I want to see how it works with my new oil control face wash, because I do really love the dewy finish it gives.

The jury is officially still out on this one!

I've also thrown in my trusty Match Perfection Concealer in Ivory; and three of my favourite Real Techniques brushes. I've chosen the Setting Brush for concealer; the Buffing Brush for foundation and their Multi-Task brush for a little bit of everything else!

And for lips? It has to be my a couple of Clinque Chubby Sticks!

These are just the easiest sweep of colour ever. If I'm feeling fancy I'll apply with a brush for a statement lip, or apply sparingly and blend out for a subtle stain. I have quite a few from the collection but my favourites are Woppin' Watermelon and Pudgy Peony.

I've also managed to sneak my Chanel Rouge Coco into the mix in my favourite shade; emotion.
Shhhhhh.

I'll be back tomorrow with my skincare essentials... including some more chat about my new beloved wash bag!
xx
