The edit: Summer in the city

Whenever the summer rolls around I always fantasise about transforming my wardrobe into a haven of crisp white shirts; floaty peasant blouses and impossibly cute summer dresses. I dream of breezing around the city like Carrie Bradshaw, preparing for my next lavish trip to Santorini - the epitome of easy living. Sounds fabulous, right?

But there's just one problem. I live in the North West of England; where wearing white is an open invitation to sit in the nearest patch of wet grass/mud/half eaten ice lolly. And so every year I saunter back to the drawing board, only to realise one very important thing. Contrary to popular belief, white is not the only colour to rock this summer.

Black is also a pretty great contender.

I know what you're thinking, black for summer? But there's a reason why the all-black outfit always makes a comeback - it's practical, low maintenance, and most importantly: forever stylish.

I recently stepped out in the city in this all-black ensemble. Here I'm wearing my favourite sleeveless blazerhigh waist mom jeanstipped belt and tassel heels
